Seriously, I'dįollow that man's orders anytime (No, not really.ish). Would have to get Bill Pullman to talk me into it. Jeff Goldblum was still that charming nerd that I try to emulate to this day Bill Pullman, I actually enjoyed him on this one if I ever get asked to do a suicide mission, someone If you want those questions to be answered, you'll have to follow their media guide (20th Century Fox's Youtube channel and their website: Pacing was good though, if that would help. If you have seen the first one, it'd probably help, but there are still questions that aren't answered throughout the course of its 120-minute run time. It's not really a newcomer friendly film. What can I say, I just write what I see.Īnother one was that there were a lot of plot holes, like way too much. The CGI was somewhat wonky but sometimes they're great. Speaking of destruction, I've always thought of Emmerich as Michael Bay's rival on destroying things I actually think that these two have a secret game of whoever can capture destruction on film. Some of the scales were confusing from all the destruction that was happening in the background. Dialogues were mediocre at best, but Bill Pullman's motivational speeches were just hype worthy. Some of the jokes were good, but most of them were cringe worthy. The direction of the film was a "Meh" for me as I have seen a lot of it from other films (and they probably did it better). They did add a few elements to further expand the lore behind the franchise such as, the alien tech recovered from the first invasion being integrated to Earth tech to serve as weapons to protect themselves, character backgrounds to explain their motivations, and a set-up for future films.

I'll try my best to make this as simple as I can.Įverything in this film was pretty generic. The story was a rehash of the first one albeit an updated one. The good stuff has some bad stuff, it's kinda hard to separate them. Now this review will be a little different. And it has been 20 years since Earth won the "Invasion Event", people have been preparing themselves in case the aliens decide to make some payback aaaaand they did. And it stars some of the old faces from the previous film like: Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Judd Hirsch to name a few, and the new guys for the franchise like: Liam Hemsworth, Jesse Usher and Maika Monroe. Independence Day: Resurgence is the long awaited sequel to the 1996 film: Independence Day and it was directed by Roland Emmerich (or as I would call: The German Michael Bay).
